ABA works with inspired clients to create visionary residential, cultural, commercial, and civic projects through everyday means.
An internationally recognized New York and Connecticut-based office, ABA’s work is defined by an innovative approach to contextuality and focus on detail. Recent projects include a New York Public Library branch, a Community Justice Center in Connecticut, a culinary and event planning team’s headquarters, several urban townhouses, and restoration of two buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The office’s projects have included implementing effective water management strategies, integrating landscape with built form, overhauling existing buildings for better energy management and control, and creating technical spaces such as listening rooms, greenhouses, and high-impact health facilities. With all team members trained in sustainable design, the work is underscored by choices that support human health and the environment.
ABA has received numerous recognitions including the Architectural League Prize, AIA New Practices New York, Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard, Curbed’s Groundbreakers Award, several AIA Design Awards, and AIA’s Arnold W. Brunner Grant for research and innovation. Various projects by ABA have been nominated for project of the year by Interior Design Magazine, Architect’s Newspaper, and ArchDaily. ABA was named one of “the world’s best practices” by Wallpaper magazine, and has been included in Architect’s Newspaper’s “AN 50” and “Twenty to Watch” lists.
