SZ-Architects was founded in 2019 in Shanghai and Tokyo. As an innovative design firm specializing in architecture, interior and urban renewal design, we pay close attention to the changes of the times, the current environment, and the status quo of the society, and has a wealth of experience in designing and implementing projects of different scales.

The studio was founded with a focus on each project’s historical lineage, construction process, and workmanship, exploring the essential relationship between space and people through a variety of open-minded perspectives, and seeking the authenticity, uniqueness, and locality of the design with the most simple and sincere design techniques. We hope to give each project a unique life.

From the completion of each project, we explore and refine our own construction experience and design concepts. Architecture as a container of space, we are more concerned about what is carried in this container – the activities of the users in it. Therefore, different users of the space become the most important role in influencing the direction of our design, and the design is always based on different regions and different users to construct its own logic.

As the birthplace of the founder and the place where he grew up, Shanghai is deeply imprinted with the sea culture of the architect. As a very inclusive city, Shanghai is both inclusive and full of opposites between diverse things.

This makes it possible for everyone to develop diversely in all aspects of daily life, and everyone has different views and ideas, which often produce unexpected results when they are brought together.

This is also the way we work in our office, and each of the designers involved can be seen in the projects. We hope to continue to meet more challenges in this environment.

After completing a number of projects, we have been approached by many new and interesting projects, and we have also launched our Tokyo office and business in Tokyo.
