The Escobedo Solíz studio was founded in 2016 in Mexico City by two classmates, Pavel Escobedo (Tepic, 1988) and Andrés Solíz (Mexico City, 1990).
Their practice is based on a continuous exploration of materials, structures, and construction systems, aimed at finding specific solutions for each situation . The design and construction approach is defined by the specifications of each project. Their architectural language stems from a sensitive reading and interpretation of the specific characteristics of each commission: the site, the program, the human and material resources, the sociocultural background, and the collective memory. Doing more with less (time, resources, and impact) has become a constant principle in their work, a way to achieve a powerful tectonic and sensory language that adapts to clients' deadlines and budgets. Alongside their professional practice, in recent years Pavel and Andrés have complemented their work with academic teaching at their alma mater. They began as assistants and then worked as professors in the project workshop at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM (2016-2020). In 2019 they were invited as professors to the IUAV University of Venice. Their career has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2014 Holcim Awards for Sustainable Architecture , the 2016 MoMA Young Architects Program , the 2020 Emerging Voices Award from The Architectural League of New York, and the 2020 Fritz Höger Preis "Grand Prix". Their work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the MAXXI Museum in Rome, the 16th and 17th Venice Architecture Biennales, the LIGA DF Architecture Gallery, and the Latin American Architecture Biennial in Pamplona in 2023. They have also lectured at institutions such as the IUAV University of Venice, the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Navarra, and the UNAM, among others.
