Seturi Studio
Tbilisi, Georgia
2024

Seturi Studio is a hybrid living and working environment located in the heart of Tbilisi, within a historic building over 100 years old. Defined by thick walls and deep-set windows, the existing architecture provides a grounded and atmospheric foundation for the project.

Originally conceived as a private residence, the space gradually evolved into a multidisciplinary studio where domestic life, design production, and cultural exchange coexist within one continuous spatial framework. Its central location allows it to function not only as a home and workspace, but also as a meeting point for collaborators, creatives, and the community.

Spatial Character & Inspiration

The interior draws inspiration from classic New York brownstone residences — spaces that combine monumentality with intimacy. This influence is interpreted through a structured yet layered composition that feels both intentional and lived-in.

An eclectic dialogue between mid-century furniture, contemporary sculptural pieces, and collected objects creates a slightly chaotic yet calm atmosphere. The balance between softness and structure defines the studio’s identity.

Material & Texture Philosophy

Material authenticity shapes the character of the space. Natural textures, wood, wool, stone, plaster, and metal are used with restraint, allowing weight, tactility, and imperfection to remain visible.

The palette is grounded in earthy tones, reflecting a connection to nature rather than decorative trends.

Light interacts with these surfaces throughout the day, reinforcing depth and material presence.

Ocena Kitchen — The Spatial Anchor

At the core of the studio stands the “Ocena Kitchen,” a named element that embodies the conceptual heart of the space.

More than a functional kitchen, it operates as a gallery wall and central gathering point. It organizes circulation and collects curated objects into a cohesive composition.

Architecturally defined and visually restrained, the kitchen maintains a cool structural clarity, yet feels quietly warm through the presence of objects and everyday use. It acts simultaneously as backdrop and protagonist.

Art & Interventions

Artworks are integrated as architectural components rather than decorative additions.

The wool-based artwork “Running Horses” is a collaborative piece between Hole on the Wall and Pito Seturi. The work introduces movement and softness, balancing the solidity of surrounding materials.

Mirror artwork by Levan Mindiashvili expands perception and light, subtly altering spatial boundaries.

In the bathroom, the “Volcano” artwork by Tina Siradze introduces a more intense and intimate expression, reinforcing the layered curatorial narrative of the studio.

Furniture & Curatorial Direction

The interior combines:

  • Mid-century furniture
  • Contemporary sculptural elements
  • Monumental custom pieces developed in collaboration with Idaaf Architects
  • Collected objects sourced over time

Idaaf Architects are a consistent presence across Pito Seturi’s projects, contributing architectural-scale furniture elements that introduce structural clarity and monumentality. These pieces act as spatial anchors within the studio, balancing the softer textures and eclectic objects that surround them.

Their presence establishes a dialogue between architectural precision and organic accumulation.

Flea markets remain an essential part of Pito Seturi’s process. Each object is selected for its presence, memory, or material story. The studio evolves continuously through collecting, repositioning, and lived experience.

Function Today

 Seturi Studio functions as:

  • Private residence
  • Design studio
  • Space for object and jewelry development
  • Cultural meeting point
  • Location for visual productions

It remains fundamentally lived-in, shaped by daily routine, collaboration, and creative experimentation.
