Lopota Reception
Telavi, Georgia
2025

Lopota Reception unfolds as a glass-bound threshold, where architecture dissolves into landscape and light moves freely through space. Transparency acts as a mediator, binding interior life to the surrounding nature and allowing the building to breathe with its environment.

The design carries the memory of a former rose plantation once rooted on this land. Its spirit is subtly preserved through rosewood veneer grains that trace the walls and custom-made furniture, while softly blushed copper surfaces wrap the space in warmth and quiet intimacy. These materials do not decorate; they remember.

At the heart of the reception, the main desk rests on locally sourced marble blocks, grounding the lightness of glass with a sense of permanence. Nearby, curtains inspired by the movement of water flow gently through the space, blurring boundaries and reinforcing a dialogue between inside and outside, stillness and motion.

The first gesture of welcome appears at the entrance: a drinks station and local wine shelf crafted from copper and reddish wood, positioned on both sides of the vitrage. This element introduces the material language immediately, inviting guests into a place shaped by locality, ritual, and hospitality.

Reflection plays a subtle yet intentional role throughout the interior. Stainless steel details on lounge chairs, polished marble slabs on the guest relations desk, and semi-gloss leather surfaces capture and scatter light. The leather, sourced from leftover materials, reinforces the project’s sustainable approach - where reuse becomes refinement and imperfection becomes character. These reflective layers animate the space, creating ever-shifting visual depth as people move through it.

The key-holder station is positioned in front of a vast vitrage overlooking dense greenery, allowing the act of arrival to unfold between interior and exterior. Here, plants become part of the architecture, and architecture becomes a frame for nature.

Carpets, placed in unexpected compositions, introduce movement and informality, subtly guiding circulation while breaking from conventional spatial order.

Every piece of furniture is designed exclusively for this place - born from its context, materials, and memory. Together, they form an echo of what once was, and the quiet dawn of something new.
