Situated on a site with a rich family history to the client, the residence is developed as a series of volumes assembled under one common roof. Each volume is thus given an orientation through its ceiling, that playfully resemble a village of pitched roof housing specific programs. The large fenestration offers a grand view on the fiery sunset, and each space provides intricacies such as reading nook for these avid readers. The custom black charred wood exterior cladding is both humble in the summer colors and a striking scene under the white blanket of winter. The original home was transformed into a wintergarden of a similar language, with the greenhouse and interior cement tiles as a way to link to a bygone era and passion for gardening of the owners
