Happybirth is an Ob-Gyn clinic located inside a mall in the Asoke area of Bangkok. The challenge of the project was to create a space that could accommodate multiple functions and examination rooms within a very limited area while also being comfortable and ensuring privacy for clients. To achieve a welcoming and soothing environment, we chose wood and a warm white color palette as the main materials.
Natural light plays a significant role in the design; therefore, the public areas of the clinic, such as the reception and waiting area, extend from the entrance to the facade, providing this natural light source. The layout resembles a large piece of furniture, with carved and arranged architectural layers that obscure clear sightlines, making the overall space appear larger than it is.
The floor plan features faceted, inclined lines that disrupt the view, enhance privacy, and accommodate various functions. Above the common area, there is a long, curved ceiling that floats gracefully while concealing technical elements. To further enhance the sense of space, mirror panels have been strategically placed within the project—where the wall meets the window, in the niche behind the entrance bench, and in the reception counter. This creates a visual interplay between people, the space, and the light.
