Semillas is a non-profit organization based in Lima, Pangoa (Junín region), and San Ignacio (Cajamarca region). Founded in 2014 by Marta Maccaglia, it draws on her experience in architecture and cooperation projects since 2011. We are an interdisciplinary team of national and international professionals, including architects, cooperation project specialists, builders, and artisans. Young professionals also join our team through internship programs.
“ The work of Semillas represents a rediscovery of the rainforest, putting on the map a territory that is usually forgotten, or only seen as a site for mining and oil exploitation. It opens up the discussion about the importance of quality educational facilities reaching all territories and raises the debate about the importance of cultural values when proposing a project (...). Now Semillas operates mainly in the rainforest, but its impact can easily reach every corner of Peru or any part of the world, because its work consists of joining forces and building shared dreams. ” Al Borde – Global Award for Sustainable Architecture profile.
