MAKER architecten is a Belgium-based architecture studio focused on designing sustainable and circular spaces for cities and communities. Founded by Ana Castillo and Lieven de Groote, the studio explores how architecture can respond to environmental challenges while creating meaningful places for people.
The practice emphasizes circular design, adaptive reuse, and resource-conscious construction, aiming to reduce environmental impact while extending the life cycle of buildings and materials. Through research, design, and collaboration with public and private partners, MAKER architecten develops projects that integrate architecture, urban thinking, and sustainability.
Based in Ghent, Belgium, the studio works on a variety of projects ranging from urban strategies and renovations to new architectural developments, always guided by the idea of making space to “think circular” about architecture and the city.
