IDIN Architects was founded in 2004. IDIN is an acronym for Integrated Design Into Nature. The term “nature,” as defined by IDIN, extends beyond ecology to include site context, climate, culture, as well as human behavior and ways of living. IDIN’s design approach focuses on understanding and prioritizing the conditions and requirements that each project must respond to. Architecture is developed through this process, resulting in designs that are appropriate to their context and practical in use. In addition, the Thai word “idin” refers to the scent of soil after rainfall, a phenomenon associated with tropical climates. This idea reflects IDIN’s ongoing consideration of environmental conditions in shaping architecture suited to humid tropical regions.
IDIN Architects was founded by Mr. Jeravej Hongsakul, who received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in 1998 and has been practicing in the architectural field since 2000. The practice gained wider recognition following the project Phuket Gateway, which received the ASA Architectural Design Award in 2010. Since then, IDIN Architects’ works have been recognized through various national and international design awards, including the Arcasia Awards for Architecture, Golden Pin Design Award, Design for Asia Awards (DFA), Good Design Award, Prix Versailles, and Architizer A+ Awards.
